I was very disappointed when I started reading this book. I was not expecting a word "stupid" repeated in first couple of pages... I was not expecting a book from a city library with any "bad" words.
"Jack tried to find work, but everyone said he was too stupid"
..."shouted Jack's mother. "How stupid can you be?!""
The book is very easy to read for beginning readers, pictures are nice and colorful, and flip ups are simple enough that they won't tear easily... but I cannot recommend this book.
I also realized that many of the fairy tales I grew up with contain unwanted actions like stealing, killing, revenge, etc... No wonder I had hard time finding some of the stories because no one wants to read them to their kids. However, some great authors have modified the stories to fit today's society. I found the book "Kate and the Beanstalk" by Mary Pope Osborne (famous with Magic Tree House series) gives much better storyline and morals.
