　なんだこれ？が見終わった後の印象。
　上野樹里の魅力は生き生きとした表情、誘い込まれそうな笑顔、躍動感だというのにそれらが全く表現されていない。いったいカメラマンをはじめとしたスタッフは何をしていたのか？と思ってしまう。被写体との意思の疎通が出来ていないのではないか、そもそも上野樹里の魅力を理解しているのかと勘ぐりたくなる内容である。映画「スウィングガール」で見せていた彼女の魅力はこの写真集のどこにも見つけることが出来ない。あの映画で上野樹里が好きになった人は絶対この写真集を買うべきではない。がっかりしますよ。

　上野樹里の良さを説明するのは難しい。「『スウィングガールズ』を観ろ」と言うのが一番単純で効果的だが、それでは少々不親切だ。世間では薄っぺらいものがもてはやされているけれど、彼女はまるで違う。もっとこんがらがっている感じ。もちろん、そこが良いのだ。
　いわゆるグラビア撮影において女の子たちは、眼の焦点をぼやけさせながら表情を作る。男性の視線を受け止めつつ、受け流すためだ。ところが本書において上野はギンギンにカメラをねめつけている。なんて不器用なんだろう！ 滑らかな肌や長い手足を眺めても、男たちは欲情をかきたてようがない。なんとなく居心地が悪い。
　表紙を含めて92枚の写真の中で、彼女の個性は薄い殻の中に閉じ込められているように感じられる。コメディの名手・矢口史靖監督に見出され、老若男女を抱腹絶倒させる予兆を読み取ることはできない。しかし、上野樹里が今後どのようなキャリアを重ねるのかもわからないわけで、本書を見ているとあれこれ考えさせられてしまう。ここには何かがあるが、それが何なのかはわからない。
　意味不明のレビューで申し訳ないが、とにかくそんな一冊です。星をすべて並べたのは、理屈はどうあれ、文句のつけようがないくらい可愛いのは確かだから。

「恥じらい」や「初々しい」という言葉がピッタリの写真集。

表現が貧弱で申し訳ないのだが
「好きな女の子の水着姿をはじめて見た」時の
ドキドキするような感じを思い出してしまう。

上野樹里の「素の美しさ」はもちろん良いのだが
画質、構成などをモデルに頼ることなく
相乗効果を引き出している点も評価できる。
