久しぶりに、ホッと一息つかせてくれた巻だったと思います。野風の退場は寂しいけれど、決して希望のない別れではありませんでした。前巻、歴史を追いかけることと、仁の市井での活躍を追いかけること、それぞれの描き分けに苦労していたような印象が残りましたが、この巻は盛り返したように感じます。さて、ここからがこの作品の勝負所だと思います。「龍」のときは、主人公が歴史に積極的に関わりだして「秘宝争奪戦」がはじまってから、急速に作品のリアリティが失われていったように思います。ぜひ、村上先生には、歴史をねじ曲げてもかまわないので、思いっきりぶちかましてもらいたいです。坂本龍馬を救う？ナポレオン３世？いいじゃありませんか。史実に遠慮することなく突っ走ってください。

「長州征伐以来世間はタガがはずれた桶のよう」（129頁）になり、再び三隅俊斉の姦計に嵌められる南方仁。にしても、初めて野風を抱きしめた（80頁）のに、すぐに永久の別離が訪れようとは･･･　だが、何となく彼女はまた戻ってくるような気もしてならない･･･

野風は、彼女の夫となったフランス人と共にフランスに渡った。
一方、仁はペニシリンの開発や新しい医療技術の紹介で、欧米まで広くその名が知られる医者となっていたが
日本での評価は芳しくなく、仁を疎む者も多かった。
そんな時に仁に再び苦境が訪れる。

村上もとか氏のシリーズは、マンガとは思えない奥深さがあり
人生を感じさせるものがあります。
十五巻では、野風が選んだ人生と、運命に流されるようで立ち向かう女性の強さ
それを野風の姿に感じさせてくれました
