The ties between Syria and Iraq are complex and often fraught and, with both facing significant internal turmoil, their relationship is one that is central to stability in the region. James Denselow works in the Environment, Politics and Development of King's College London. He has spent many years in the Middle East for many years, as a researcher at Chatham House between and for NGOs in Syria. He regularly writes for The Guardian and has contributed to a host of British and international news outlets.
