If you are a Civil War buff or collector who's confused by all the terminology involved with Civil War photography than this book is for you. It explains the most popular photography methods of that era: tintypes, ambrotypes, CDVs (Carte de Visite), & sterioviews. I would've liked to have seen much more about sterioviews because I collect them. One of the best sections of the book is the collectors' guide which has 15 tips for collectors of Civil War photographs. This book is an excellent introduction for anyone interested in starting a collection.
