理由なきあやふやな転職が増えているといわれる現代の問題点にこの本は明確な方向性を指し示しているといえる。それは、この廣瀬さんが常に自分の目の前の仕事を大事にし、仕事の成果を評価されて、誘われる形で常に転職していることである。社長になるときですら。自分の市場価値、存在意義は目の前を大事にしていくなかで見出されていくのだと勇気付けられる。

　ものごとの本質を掴んでいる人の話というのは聞いていて大変分かりやすい。シンプルで明快、それでいて芯が通っていて勇気を与えてくれる。気負わず、見せ付けず淡々としかし力強く自らの行く末、来た道を分かりやすい言葉で一気に読ませていただいた。２９年間のＩＢＭでのキャリアの中で得たことの一つとして紹介されている「フィーチャー・ファンクション・ベネフィット」という考え方。この本もきっちり読者の「ベネフィット」を意識して著されているあたりは、分かりやすい文章の中にも著者の「オヤジ」としての含蓄がきっちりこめられている。

　セガ時代のドリームキャストの話をもう少し聞きたいなあという思いが残ったが、それを差し引いても大変爽快で勇気をもらえました。

「ITビジネスこそ、オヤジのキャリアが必要」というコンセプトは中年のサラリーマンや技術者に勇気を与えてくれる。

そして、そのためには必要なものがあることも認識させられる。長年のキャリアで培った実力、新しいものにチャレンジするやる気と気力、そして英語力や国際的なセンスなどである。しかし、これらはそう簡単に手に入れられるものではないことも事実であるが・・・
