Taschen社の出版物はどれも手に入れやすい価格で印刷の色も美しく内容が非常に充実しているのが特徴ですが、この本も例外ではなくHundertwasserの絵も建築も楽しめ、Hundertwasser年表まで付いた内容盛りだくさんの一冊です。本文はドイツ語英語フランス語の三ヶ国語で書かれています。外国語を勉強している人にとってはそれぞれを読み比べると良い勉強になること請け合いです。もちろんそうでない人にも豊富な写真や資料がついているので楽しめる一冊だと思います。彼の様々な作品について、また思想や生涯の出来事について詳しく書かれたこの本を一冊読み終わるころにはあなたはHundertwasser通になっていることでしょう。

Hundertwasser's Best!

This small, but speaks volumes book is the best over all book published about this artist. His words of wisdom, history, models, architecture, stamps, flags and of course his art work is brillantly displayed in this book. I highly recommmend this book to anyone, not just Hundertwasser appreciators of his incredible works. It is to be shared with the humans who have vision, insight and reflection.

Hundertwasser's philosophies and Kunsthaus Wien

This book is written in three languages (German, English, French) side by side by side. It is mostly about the Kunsthaus Wien, Hundertwasser's gallery in Vienna Austria, and uses this as an example and breaking off point for ideas and concepts behind his work. His ideas involve a return to nature. He advocates planting trees and other plants on a building as a way to give back the land that was taken from nature and believes that it is better to build on the worst land and not the best and thereby improve the over all landscape. The text and pictures go well together and show how and why the Kunsthaus Wien was developed.
The Kunsthaus Wien was but with Hundertwasser's creative control. Trees are planted in large pots on the sides of the building. Other elements that return architecture to nature are also incorporated, including uneven surfaces and an avoidance of right angles. At the end of the book are 44 pages displaying Hundertwasser's paintings art and other architectural projects on which he was consulted.
If you are a fan of Hundertwasser's work you will not be disappointed with the nicely printed pictures and descriptions of the philosophy behind Hundertwasser's work. If you are interested in ways of integrating nature with architecture, then this provides and exploration of concepts.
