Heresy: Ten Lies They Spread About Christianity [ハードカバー]

Michael Coren new book covers many different topics which he calls ''heresies'' , or lies , against The Christian Religion in The Western World Today . Those 'Heresies' are made up against Christians to prevent them from engaging with the Society and sharing their views which comes because of Christian influence, on issues such as Morality ,family ,abortion ,euthanasia, and pornography, etc . The Heresies are tools to make the Christians feel ashamed to use their belief as inspiration to serve the society .

That is why the book starts by addressing fundamental heresies like '' Jesus never existed '' and '' There is no God'' .Coren answers the question of wither there is any evidence that Jesus existed with '' There is , and plenty of it ''.He cities the early Historians from the first and second century . Pagans , Jews and Christians ,and argues that pagans and jews , who were not Christian and in many cases anti-christian, never doubted the existence of Jesus .

The interdiction of the book itself was an eye opening for me ,where the author shows the hypocrisy of the left media in the case of Andres behring breivik , for example , when he was called a right wing fundamentalist christian , even though he is a Freemason , supporter of gay Marriage , and do not have a relationship with God or Jesus , which have nothing to do with Fundamental Christianity! Yet the media started to use his blond hair and blue eyes to say that he is a '' Christian Fundamentalist'' and ignoring all the other facts. in another case , Coren shows the tragedy , of Nadia eweida , who was suspended from her job by the British Airways for wearing a small cross ,when other people such as Sikhs and Muslims wear their symbols and it's okay with the same company !.

The book Addresses other heresies such as the Da Vinci Code and the conspiracy theory about the origins of Christianity , such heresy is wild spread that the book sold 80 million copies with it's false historical facts . But my favorite '' Heresy'' in the book is about Hitler being Christian , in it Coren shows with clear evidence that Hitler was not only a non Christian , but Anti-Christian . in it , Coren addresses the Holocaust and the reaction of the jewish leaders of the time to the role of Christian Church in saving the jews from Hitler and his regime . Coren provided a new evidence by a German Historian which suggest that Pope Pius '' may' have arranged the exodus of about 200,000 Jews from Germany just three weeks after Kristallnacht''.

Another Heresies such as Christians are against Science and progress, or they supported slavery is been refuted by Coren. in fact , it is the Christians pastors who fought Slavery in England and America , and it's Christian England , argues Coren, which stopped Slavery trade in many part of the Islamic world. Christians activist who were inspired by their faith brought , for example, Rehabilitation , Mines Act , Ten Hours act ,into existence .in the heresy of Christians against Science , Geology ,Egyptology , Genetics,Seismography and other inventions were, product of Christian scientist .And before you cite the Galileo thing , Coren argues, it was Nicolaus Copernicus , a catholic priest , who taught heliocentrism deacads before Galileo was even born , and the church was happy with him and with Galileo( before the latter begins involving with Theology!) . The Jesuits ,were a major force in the Scientific field during the enlightenment .

Coren refute the heresy of '' Christians are stupid '' , by showing that Christianity inspired giants and modern intellectuals, such as C.S Lewis , J.r.r. tolkien , Hilaire Belloc and many others whom works and writings influenced millions of people around the world.

The book also discuss many other topics and heresies, such as politics ,Abortion ,Homosexuality ,and even prayer! Coren shares very personal and family stories too .

it's a short book but very valuable one to get and read ,for Christians and non christians alike .

Heresy seems to deal with many issues that attack Christians today and cut them down. These are reasons that the world persecutes Christians. Each chapter deals with a false assumption about Christianity and then tears that assumption apart.

Coren begins with a fascinating introductory chapter which gives numerous examples of persecution of Christians and mistreatment in comparison to those of other religions. After the meaty introduction, you wonder why Christians are so terribly singled out. And it leads right into the first chapter.

Then he starts on the nine myths or heresies about Christians that are meant to be the most outlandish or shocking and therefore get the most attention. For example: Hitler was a Christian or the DaVinci Code controversy. For most chapters he briefly describes the accusation (heresy) against Christians and then gives example after example after example that disprove it. Some of the chapters are almost biographical. For example, he answers the accusation against Christians being stupid by giving short bios of seven brilliant British Christian authors. He has a similar tactic for most chapters.

This book is valuable as a resource if I ever need to deal with that particular issue. But at times I had the feeling that the author simply was cutting and pasting from his extensive research in order to fill the chapter with enough material to support his point. Granted, there were some very powerful insights, but for most of the book, Coren goes overboard with too many examples that are commonly known. Where is the unique insight that this book can contribute to these issues that hasn't already been said?

Great book this in terms of giving you ammo to show-up the historical ignorance and obvious bias that certain sectors of society belligerently choose to hold on to despite the facts.
