There are 6 "books" or stories that are bound together as one. It's nice and convenient in that you don't have 6 separate, loose books. Book 1 focuses on the long a sound; book 2 on the long i sound; book 3 on the long o; book 4 on the long u; book 5 on the sh sound; and book 6 on the ch sound. I bought this book to read to my 3-year-old on the plane so that I wouldn't have to worry about losing one of the books as we were traveling but still have several stories to read. He enjoys the stories and really understands the phonics aspect of it. He sounds out each of the letters and then puts them together to sound out the entire word. The stories are also based on episodes from the t.v. show, so if your child is a fan of the t.v. show he/she will recognize the stories.

Not 6 books - it is one book

I expected this to be books 7-12 (6 books) - it is a different version where the 6 books are combined into 1 book with 6 chapters in it.
Just disappointed that way - which is why I gave 2 stars for Amazon - not for the contents of the book
