初めて読んだデザインパターン本でしたが、最後まで行き詰まることなく読み進めることができました。他の方も書いてますが内容は非常に良いです。ただ、訳がまるでこなれてなく、誤訳も多いため星3つとしました。単なる技術書であれば『訳がこなれていない』ことは減点対象ではないのですが、本書では同一の内容を異なる表現、文体で繰り返すことで知識を定着させることを狙っているため、直訳調ではない日本語として練られた訳が重要だと思いました。
2版は正確かつ練られた訳になることを期待します。

待望のHead Firstシリーズ、国内第二弾。
オリジナル本が大ベストセラーとのことだが、それを裏づける素晴しい内容だと思う。初学者にとっては、日本語で記述されたデザインパターン本の自習書とし最適であると思う。

デザインパターン本やオブジェクト指向プログラミング本に関しては、中・上級者が紹介する推薦本（良書）は、中・上級者にとっては当たり前のことであっても、初学者にとっては「なぜ？」という疑問がつきまとう。行間に隠れてしまっている概念がまったく理解されていないがゆえに、「何でそれが重要なのか？それが問題なのか？」がまったく理解できない。早い話が、ほとんどが「馬の耳に念仏」になってしまう。また、よくある表現、言いまわしついても、何冊も似たような書籍と格闘し、挫折してようやく「もしかして、こういうこと？」とようやく正解に少しだけ近づくことができるのだ。それとて本人にとっては自身が無いはずだ。要は、初学者にとっては推薦本の解説本が欲しいのだ。
この「Head Firstデザインパターン」は、このような初学者に対して親切、丁寧に解説してくれる。中、上級者の方にとっては、部下、後輩への教育にもきっと役立つはずだ。
個人的には、「師匠と弟子」の会話が最高に面白い。それとGoFの写真が紹介されていたが、なぜか感動してしまった。


しかし、Bridgeパターンが「13章　付録：残りのパターン」の中で紹介されており、しかも見開き2ページとは悲しすぎる。また、本国で発売されてからじつに14ヵ月もの時間がたって邦訳・出版されるのは理解できない。

デザインパターンの解説書は敷居の高いものが多いですが、様々な方面からアプローチされた例を多用しているのでデザインパターンの習得を志す人なら誰でも本書内のどこかの段階で理解できるような構成になっています。
これまで自分が無意識に書いていたコードとデザインパターンの定義の関わりが理解できたことが最大の収穫でした。
今後、分からなくなったときにはこの本に戻れば大丈夫という安心と自信を与えてくれる一冊です。
