This movie's gimmick is operative on both sides of the camera. The story looks at the romance between a pair of journalist rivals in Baltimore: Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth Perkins. Polar opposites, they are attracted and then fall apart over male-female issues that neither seems to understand. The story is told first from his point of view, then told again from hers with a completely different spin. For good measure, the two segments are handled by different directors: his by Ken Kwapis, hers by Marisa Silver. You don't have to be John Gray to know that the characters will see things differently according to gender, but you do have to be a better filmmaker to make this material funny. --Marshall Fine
