What I read about the book from the description on Amazon led me to believe that the book was composed mostly of Thurston Moore talking about grunge music. There is only about two pages of Thurston giving a basic history of grunge music, nothing that I hadn't read before though. At the end of the book he writes short biographies of the bands, but they don't include much more than where the bands were from and who was in the bands. The majority of the book is composed of pictures of grunge bands taken by Michael Lavine. The pictures are all in black and white, but they are very high quality and are presented one picture to a page. I had not seen most of the photographs in the book. It starts with pictures of some random punk-rockers who were hanging out on the streets of Seattle circa 1983 but then goes into the pictures of the bands. There were pictures of U-Men, Love Battery, an interesting one of L7 and Cat Butt, Blood Circus,Skin Yard, as well as many other lesser known bands. It also included ones of Kurt Cobain/Nirvana, Courtney Love/Hole, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and the other big names. Although the book wasn't at all what I expected, I was excited because I had never pictures of some of these bands, and the pictures are of a very beautiful quality. For information, look elsewhere, but if you want to see some awesome pictures of grunge bands check this book out.
