One of the better books by this author. William is a doctor, and Lucy is working at an orphanage. She lives home with parents and sisters and unlike a lot of Ms. Neels' heroines, doesn't need the income. The plot moves along, William is one of the nicer heroes this author has written and the ending is very good. Try it.

Betty Neels had a successful career as a nurse, and when that ended she had a successful career as a writer, with a total of 134 books. She was writing at 90. We lost a great writer in June of 2001, but her books live on as a legacy.
Lucy (Lockitt), as in the nursery rhyme, was the youngest of three daughters. Her sisters both had great careers and plans
of marriage, while all that Lucy had was work at the local orphanage. That's where she met the available Dr. William Thurloe. She had dreams of marrying him, but he was always with
another woman. Could she get what she wanted, or would she always be the child who lived at home with her parents?
This book was sweet, I recommend it, and give it 4 stars:)

I wish this book was one of my favorites because the poetry was lovely. William Thurloe was a great character. He was totally assured, kind, charming, handsome & quotes poetry - the perfect hero! Lucy, on the other hand is where I think the story falls a bit flat. She was pretty, but she was also very sweet and gentle and took a job looking after orphaned children. Despite her great qualities, I felt there where times in the story where she acted very childishly to the point of being ridiculous. I'm glad I read the book and for a Betty Neels fan, I think it is a must, but I know there are better stories that this one.
