I'm using this grammar for research on languages in the Austronesian family. These languages are extremely interesting, and Fijian in particular has some notable characteristics. Dixon is a notable figure in this field and this work shows his expertise. This book is well written, easy to access, and, unlike some grammars, gives an understanding of the people who speak the language.
I find the discussion of the difference between "phonological" and "grammatical" words somewhat confusing, but that may be due to my own lack of experience. A great tool for researching this particular language and culture.
