This book contains some great tips and advice for those looking into graduate applications, whether a masters, doctoral, or professional degree course. The most valuable part of this book is indeed the example essays that are quality, but it also provides some great tips for preparing your drafts and then editing them.
While the general advice/tips on the application and admissions process is good, I highly recommend "Getting What You Came For" by Peters. That book is a complete reference on the application and admissions process, but also what to do once getting accepted and how to make the most of your time in your program (potentially speeding up your coursework saving you time and money!!!)
If you need ANY tips in the writing process, BUY THIS BOOK.
If you need any OTHER tips, buy "Getting What You Came For"
If you can, BUY BOTH! These two books are WORTH your time and money.

まずは大学院出願にあたっての心構えから始まり、次に入試部の選考概要やら質問分析に移ります。そして、本論である自己分析と下書き、初校と清書の進め方について説明されています。もちろん、サンプルエッセー付き♪
日本語の書籍だとアルクから『大学院留学入試エッセー』、『合格留学入試エッセー実例集』が出ています。
それでも、英語圏の大学院進学を目指している方は、やっぱり読んでおくべきだと感じました。
英語力に自身のある方は、日本語の書籍で掲載されているサンプルエッセーとその書き方の違いを比較できると思います。また、英語力がちょっと心配な方は、前述した日本語の書籍を通読してからであれば、読み進めるのがきっと楽になるはずです。
個人的には、第1校の書き始め方と第2校?の読み直しで'?がけるべきことが参考になりました。また、大学院訪問の際に入学担当者へ質問するリストなんてのも、現地見学には役立ちそうです。
この本のおかげで、アメリカ大学院への出願準備をある程度つかめたような気がします。内容にしては、値段はお手ごろな感じがします。

かなり使えます。表現が非常に高度であり、サンプルを読むことで文章の構成なども非常に多種多様でかなり使えました。また、何を書けば良いか、何もない人間はいかにしてアドミッションの注意を引くかなど、戦略的な部分も参考になりました。
ただし、学部から直接入る人（卒業から入学までの間に職歴がない人）のエッセーは相当少ないです。私の場合学部から直接プロフェッショナルスクールに入りたかったので、内容自体が参考になったエッセーは1つしかありませんでした。また、基本的にこの本に掲載されているエッセーの書き手の経歴は、かなり特殊かつ輝かしいものばかりです。筆者自身も、トップスクールに入るよりこの本に掲載されることの方が全然難しいと言っています。
なので、自分が書けることを最大限に膨らませるためのツールとして使うべきだと思います。
