...you'll probably also enjoy the work of his contemporary, Warwick Goble. Like Rackham, Goble specializes in fantasy and illuminates it through an ink-and-color technique that allows him to portray detail meticulously (look at the ewer and table in Plate 38, or the patterns of the three rats' kimonos in Plate 20). In this book are pictures illustrating stories from Italy, India, Japan, England, and all points between, full of beauty, magic, and rich color. You'll probably find yourself wanting to acquire copies of the original books, if only because the pictures hook your interest and make you want to read the stories and find out what leads up to the scenes Goble shows and what happens afterward. This is definitely a book that will please lovers of fantasy and of Golden Age illustration.
