Wow! This is the ultimate book for any young girl who loves dogs. In fact, if this book had been around when I was about 8 or 10 years old, I would probably have slept with it under my pillow. At that time, dogs were the most important creatures in my world - as they are today to many young girls the world over.
Girls will love the stories about real dogs (and the girls who own them) that are just part of the great dog-related information in this jazzy new book from American Girl and Pleasant Company Publications.
And girls will really have fun trying some of the recipes to create yummy treats for both dogs and their owners. They can whip up a batch of "Woof Woof Waffles" for their favorite dog - OR - try some "Puppycakes" (cupcakes decorated to look like dogs - you have to see these darling creations to truly appreciate the concept of puppycakes) for themselves and their "human" friends.
The book includes suggested names for pooches, doggie trading cards and mini-posters, and even tips for doodling a dog - creating cute pen-and-pencil pooches.
Colorful photographs and other illustrations help make this book simply irresistible to dog-loving girls everywhere!

Girls and Their Dogs is a very cute book, with colored pictures of girls and dogs, along with their stories. There are illustrations, personality tests, doggie treats, trading cards, posters and names for dogs; all set up for girls from the American Girls Library.
Are you thinking of owning a pet? Do you already own a dog? Are you planning to train a Seeing Eye dog? You should own Girls and Their Dogs. This is a small book that you can take along with you. This is also an informative book, and one you will refer to over and over.
Do you enjoy having a companion who is there for you, even when your friends can't play? A friend who never gets upset with you? Would you like a pet that depends on you for food, water and exercise? Do you want an animal who is always excited to see you? Then you will love being a dog owner.
I am the owner of a Chihuahua named Bonita, who is such a joy. She will lick me and get so excited that she does a little dance. She also meets me at the door, carrying a little toy purse in her mouth. Yesterday we bought her a new winter coat, to keep her warm and dry in the winter.

As a birthday gift it was SO worth it. It contains a few dog stories, some fun facts about dogs, games, doodles and all else.
I rated this a four star because it wasn't what I expected.
