Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964), was a celebrated Italian artist and master engraver who often focused his artistic talent on the same motifs time and again - yet always creating something new. If you love Morandi...

There is more feeling, depth and integrity in a thumbnail size reproduction of a Morandi painting than there could ever be in a gallery full of pickled sharks and sliced cow carcases. Having said that, if you love this artist as much as I do, you would surely want to see the room and still life objects from where these paintings have their origins, all lovingly photographed in the natural light that bathed his still lifes. If you are a painter yourself as well as an admirer, you will no doubt find pleasure in perusing the pages of this book to gain some insight in how this artist operated. His groupings of vases, bottles, shells and other objects lining the shelves and table tops of his studio, his paint encrusted easel, his bed, the stairs leading to his studio and as well as glimpse of the other rooms of the house he shared with his sisters are all beautifully and sympathetically photographed in black and white.
