元気本人が企画から編集まで立ち会ったという本作
インタビューを軸に、過去の試合の映像ダイジェストや
スペシャルエキシビジョンが収録されているようだ。
格闘技好きとしては、現時点で発表されている、宇野薫とのエキシビジョンマッチは必見
それとは別に、もう一つのシークレットエキシビジョンマッチが収録されるらしいので
その相手が、彼の親友でもある五味隆典だったら星五つ!

怪我がちな格闘家生活の晩年ではあったが、やめるには惜しいと思わせた昨年の大晦日の勝ちっぷり。今後はどうなるのかと心配しているファンにひとまずDVD到着。色々趣向を凝らしているところが元気君っぽいです。

須藤元気という格闘家は大好きで、引退した時はとても残念だった。
youtubeで引退についてのインタビューを見て、すごく興味が出てこのDVDを買ってみた。

須藤元気自身が監修しただけあってよくも悪くも見事に裏切られた・・・
正直格闘家を引退した須藤氏は既に心は格闘にはなく、より思想的、哲学的な
境地に達しつつあることがインタビューでわかる。
格闘技を通して、世界平和や環境、内面の大切さを知ったのだろう。
そのことは素晴らしいと思うし、いかにも須藤氏らしい。

しかしDVDを買ってファンが見たいのは彼の今までのファイトだったのではないだろうか？
試合は全てダイジェスト以下のこま切れで、結果も対戦相手も表示されない（見ればだいたいわかるが）。
試合についての本人のコメントもなし。
彼のファンには欠かせない入場シーンも当時とは別のBGMが挿入されており、その時の
臨場感は全くない。

また特典映像のワンマッチも無観客試合のせいか盛り上がりというか、
練習みたいな感じで緊張感が伝わってこない。
もうひと試合など一瞬相手がわかったくらいでなんの編集だか意味がわからない。

このDVDを買う人は一部のミーハーを除いては須藤氏の現役時代の格闘ファンなのだから
それを意識したものを作って欲しかった。

哲学の境地に達するのはいいが、今までの格闘ファンを満足させてくれるような
DVDを是非企画してもらいたい。
現役時代、あれほどファンを意識したファイトをしてくれたのだから。


PS.しかしその試合ダイジェストを見ただけでも彼の確かな技術に裏打ちされたトリッキーかつ
スピーディーな動きはきわめて特殊で、唯一無二の存在であったことが分かる。
もうその試合が見れないと思うと残念でならない。
