「Sexy Back」を聴いてカッコエエ〜と思ってアルバム聴いてみました。
これはすごい！捨て曲なしのオンパレード！みたいなアルバムです。プロデュースはティンバランドとジャスティン本人、NATE HILLS（ティンバランドの右腕みたいな人らしい）の3人＆一曲にWill.I.Amが参加しています。全曲すばらしいのですが、特に一曲目から五曲目まで、この流れはカッコイイ！＆ちょっと悩ましい感じ？でサイコーです。4曲目の「My LOVE」はT.Iとのデュエットになっています。最後の3曲はバラードでこれもなかなかいいですよ。私は今までジャスティン・ティンバーレイクはちょっと敬遠していたのですが、このアルバムには頭をガツンと殴られたような衝撃を受けました。
ドライブミュージックとしてもよし、家でじっくり聴くのもいいですよ。ただ彼女と二人っきりで聴くとちょっとモヤモヤしてしまうかも・・・（これは言いすぎかナァ？）。けど盛り上がる事必至です。
ちょっと昔になりますが、マイケルジャクソンの「スリラー」、「BAD」を思い出しました。全曲シングルカットできるかも・・・。

アイドルグループ'N SyncのメンバーであったJustin Timberlakeのソロ2枚目のアルバム、「FutureSex/LoveSounds」。今作では、今ノリにノッている前衛プロデューサーTimbalandと完全タッグを組んでいます。

先行シングルの「SexyBack」を一聴してわかる通り、JustinのセクシーヴォイスとTimbalandの奇怪なサウンドとの相性が良いです。アルバム全体を通して一筋の電子的なビートが流れており、また、曲間をInterludeを用いて巧みにつなぐといった作業がなされていたりと、一貫性・ストーリー性において非常に優れたアルバムです。「SexyBack」や「My Love」などのアップテンポなダンスチューンから、「What Goes Around...Comes Around」といったドラマティックな展開をみせるシリアスなナンバー、「Summer Love」以降のメロディアスなバラードまで、バリエーション豊かで個性的な楽曲ばかり。単体としても、トータルでみても完成度の高いアルバムと言えます。

一部の音楽論評家は、「これはTimbalandの新作であって、Justinのものではない。」と厳しい意見を述べているようですが、それはTimbalandが裏方の役割を超えた、ブランド力をもった存在になっただけのことであり、JustinはTimbalandの要求に見事に応えていると僕は評価します。彼はTimbalandのもとを離れたときに苦労するかもしれませんが、Neptunesから離れて好転した今の現状を考えれば、今後も難なく道を切り開いてゆくのだと思います。それが可能なのは、彼がアイドルの枠を超えた存在であることに他なりません。

『Justified』がリリースされたときに「N Syncの頃と比べてガラッと曲が変わった」という声をよく目にしましたが、実はN Syncの『Celebrity』から変化予告はあったと思います。『Gone』と『Girlfriend』でもうアイドル路線じゃなく、JTは自分のやりたい音楽というものを明確にしていました。

さて、今回はいろいろレコード会社との揉め事もあり、旧知のネプチューンズが参加できなくなったわけですが、そこでがっしりタッグを組んだのが『Cry Me A River』を手がけたティンバランドなわけです。Nelly Furtadoとのコンビで再び脂が乗り始めたティムサウンドがまさに新境地を切り開いたのがこのアルバムだと思います。『SexyBack』はそれほど新鮮というわけではないかも知れませんが、その後連続でカットされた『My Love』『What Goes Around.../...Comes Around』あたりが超強力。特に後者は前半の女々しい内容から、やがて復讐っぽくダークな内容に向かっていくにつれ、曲の世界観も劇的に変化していき、最終的には制御がきかなくなっていく暴走さで、その壮大な世界観は圧巻の一言です。

アルバム全体の流れが特に素晴らしく、本当に最初から最後までまったく飽きさせません。一部では「これはJTではなくティンバランドの新作」とも言われていますが、二人の絶妙なコンビネーションがなければ成し得なかった大作だと思います。
