As a team of veteran travel writers, Darwin Porter and Danforth Prince have produced numerous titles for Frommer's, which have included England, Italy, the Caribbean, Spain, and Germany.
Porter wrote the first ever Frommer’s guide to Paris and the first ever Frommer's guide to France. A Francophile, he has lived and worked in Paris on and off for many years. He was joined by Danforth Prince in 1982. Prince was previously employed by the Paris bureau of the New York Times and is the president of Blood Moon Productions and other mediarelated firms. Porter is also a film critic, columnist, broadcaster, and Hollywood biographer.

Missing most important features

The Kindle version of this book does not have a table of contents, forcing you to use the painfully slow search feature to find anything.
The maps are not indexed or linked in any way, also making them difficult to find. Once you do locate a map, it is very tiny. You can zoom in, but it does not re-draw, leaving it too blurry to be useful.
Frommer's provides an e-book link to the maps, but at least on Kindle for iPad, the links do not open. This defeats the entire purpose of having this book on a portable device.
Stick with the printed version.

Frommers France 2011 is an excellent resource for those traveling to France. It is well organized and provides a wealth of information about various regions, including hotels, restaurants (all ranked according to "affordability.")

This is the worst tour book I have ever read. Info for small towns and villages just contains a description of that town's chateau. C'mon Frommers, get some writers who do something a little more interesting than go to chateaux and stare at tapestries then eat at an expensive restaurant! What does the town feel like? Look like? What are the people like? Culture? Where are interesting places to explore? If you get this book, be prepared to be disappointed and frustrated!
