Darlene Zimmerman is the author of 5 books for Krause Publications. She has been designing fabrics since 1997. Darlene publishes approximately four patterns each year that are distributed by Checker and carried at Nancy's Notions.

Just what I've been looking for!

The patterns in this book are adorable! My greatest stamp of approval goes to the very clear directions on techniques. This would be a wonderful book for a beginner because of the clear directions, but also a fun challenge to an experienced quilter. Having worked with 'newbies', I would recommend this book to them for instant gratification. Every step is explained and shown to perfection. I believe this is Darlene Zimmerman at her best!

I'm disappointed

Given the positive reviews, I was expecting more from this book. The projects did not strike me as new and different from other books of this sort. My biggest disappointment was the number of quilts that require you buy specialty rulers. An experienced quilter can work around this, but I wouldn't recommend this book to a beginner without that warning. The projects include place mats, aprons, small quilts and a few larger projects.

Some craft books charm me more than others, and this collection of projects I find particularly appealing. A few of the projects are perfect for gift giving--they can be done fairly quickly, and for using stash purchased out of love with no real project in mind.
