　これまで「初期の弾き語りフォークソングのボブ･ディラン」は時期としてひとまとめに見ていて、特にどのアルバムが優れているとかは考えたことはありませんでした。しかしレビューを書こうと思い立って改めて曲目を見ていると、いやあ、よく代表作として取りざたされるこのアルバムは、確かに同時期の他のディランのアルバムよりも曲が粒ぞろいです。

Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
Talking World War III Blues
Corrina, Corrina

これらは個人的に好きな曲たちですが、このアルバムはこれだけ優れた曲たちが集まっていたんですね。
「初期のフォークのアルバムでどれがいいか」と問われれば、ベタだろうがナンだろうがこのThe Freewheelin' Bob Dylanで間違いないですよ奥さん。

素人の恋人の写真をジャケットに使う度胸がすごい。ここで写っているスージー・ロトロ
が今どこでなにをしているか知らないが、いつまで経ってもこの写真を見せつけられる
のもかなわん話だと思うが。まあ余計なお世話か。
それはともかく私はこのジャケット好きなのだ。
この冬のニューヨークのピンと空気が張っていそうな雰囲気の中を歩く二人。絵になる。
内容は今更言うことも無い。Dylanの人気を決定付けた傑作だが、同時にDylanに未だに
付きまとうプロテストシンガーとしてのレッテルを貼り付けたアルバム。
冷静に聴けば「Blowin' In The Wind」なんて全然抵抗せずに「答は風に舞ってる」と
淡々と述べているだけなんで全然抵抗という感じしないんですけど。

ベストはいろんな年代の代表曲が集められてるわけで俺はそんなかでとくにこのころの
弾き語りのボブディランが好きだった　
泣けます
