内容説明
The ordinary stories of the ordinary lives of five generations of the author’s family form the backbone of this delightful book about Paris’s Latin Quarter while evoking all the resonances of the Left Bank students and artists, garrets and cafs, music halls and courtesans.
著者について
Gillian Tindall is well known for the quality of her writing and the meticulous nature of her research. She is a master of miniaturist history, making much of an unknown person or single situation, and staking out a particular territory in idiosyncratic non-fiction that is brilliantly evocative of place. She lives in London, in Kentish Town, the subject of her book The Fields Beneath: The History of One London Village. Among her well-loved books about France are Celestine: Voices from a French Village and The Journey of Martin Nadaud. Her most recent history is the much-praised The House by the Thames.
