昨年6月にリリースされた、オリジナルとしては4作目となるニュー・アルバム「ULTRA BLUE」に続き、9月には4作目のビデオクリップ集「UH4」をリリース。そして11月に発売になったシングル「ぼくはくま」では新境地を開拓し、12月には6年ぶりの2度目の全国ツアー「UTADA UNITED 2006」のライヴDVDをリリースし2006年を締めくくった。
そして早くも2007年第1弾シングルとして、2/28に「Flavor Of Life」をリリース。今年も彼女の活躍に乞うご期待!

以前のような爆発ヒットが無いとかいわれるけど、

それはある程度「宇多田節？」が私たちの耳になじんだからでは？

でも、毎回新曲がどこかで流れると必ず「耳」を持っていかれる。

この吸引力はスゴイと思います。

特にいつも感心させられるのは詩と曲の合わせ方。

こんな言葉の並び方を流れるように唄えるのは彼女だけではないでしょうか。

日本語も英語も境の無い美しい言葉の流れです。

素直に心に沁みてくる今曲は、ヒットすると思います。

今日飛び込んできたニュース。
この曲がなぜこんなに切なくて、情感たっぷりなのか、
その理由がちょっとわかった気がする。
Hikkiは、ウソがつけない。彼女の詞が聞き手をわしづかみにするのは、
すべてが、実感と体験から紡がれるものだから。
「Flavor Of Life」に込められた、届きそうで届かない、「君」との微妙な
距離感は、ひょっとしたら彼女の最も愛した人との距離感であったのかも。
ならば、彼女は単なる商業音楽家ではなく、自分の人生そのものまでも
音楽に昇華することができる稀有なアーティストなのかもしれない。

純粋にいい曲。
宇多田の歌詞はストレートなものが少ないけどこの歌詞は誰もが共感できるはず
ドラマのイメージが強いがそんなの関係なしに聞いてほしい。
デビューから色褪せない力を持ち続けていることを証明してくれる作品。
Originalはどんな感じなのか今から楽しみでしかたない
