Albert Sack's original "Fine Points of Furniture" and the updated and revised "New Fine Points of Furniture" are as seminal, definitive and classic as the furniture the books study. For anyone serious in the study, collection or reproduction of Early American Furniture, Sack's books are an absolute necessity. With the possible exception of Henry Francis du Pont, no single man deserves more credit and appreciation from lovers of early American Furniture.

This book is great if you want to get an overall sense of what makes certain pieces of furniture valuable. But in terms of details, fuhgeddabodit. There are no close up shots of anything. The pictures are all B&W and of poor quality. I bought this because I wanted to see details of Federal furniture. What did the inlays look like? What kind of wood was used? The book doesn't even attempt to look at such details. So, "Fine Points of American Furniture" is a rather misleading title. The title should have been, "In the Macro Sense, Why Certain Pieces of American Furniture are Valuable From a Design Perspective: A Collection of Poor Quality Photos."

Product I never received 2008/11/19

I ordered this book 10/15/08, and was told it would be delivered between 10/23 and 11/7/08. It is now Nov.18, 2008 and I have yet to receive my purchase. On Nov. 13, 2008 I e-mailed booksong29 and have never received a responce even though I paid for this purchase on Oct. 15th. Where do we go from here?
