今までのアルバム(ミュージック〜ジェネシス)は
いわゆるファミコンサウンドの音楽がユニークだから聞いていた。
何だか聞き覚えのある懐かしい音運び、限られた音のなかで作りこまれたサウンド。なんて面白い音楽だろうか、ってな感じで。
今回のクッキングはそんな斜めから見た評価をしなくても、チップチューンというジャンル内だけではなく音楽として“素敵”な一枚だと思う。そのコンセプチュアルな世界観は相変わらずなのに、なんともオシャレでハイセンス。言葉にすると本当に安っぽいが、ちょっと重低音を聞かせて聴いたりしたら本当にノックアウト。

一番お気に入りなのは「ワン！ダフル・チョコレート」。2009年バレンタインに女の子に聴いて欲しい曲ナンバーワン。安っぽい“あなたが好き”ラブソングよりぜひこの曲をかけてチョコ作りをして欲しい。

8bitの手法そのものに言及し、ファミコン文脈やその周辺の自分達の事情からサンプリングしまくった歌詞が素敵なオリジナル三部作は、ジェネシスで「明日はどっちだ？」と迷いながらも「焼き立てパンの船」で原点回帰して終焉を迎えた。
で、カバーを挟んでのまたオリジナル。次のステップへ進み、もう揺さぶってくるような批評性はないし自己言及性も消えかかってるけど、カワイイし音がノスタルジックで気持ちいいから良いじゃん！っていう動物的な聞き方で★四つ。
舞台裏を想像する楽しみ方ができなかったのはちょっと残念だけど、代わりにＮＨＫでナチュラルに使われまくってる様を想像するとちょっと嬉しいからやってみて。

昨年発売された”ダウンタウン”と”ソングブック”がＹＭＣＫの魅力を全く判っていない残念な仕様（個人的には☆３以下だと思う）だったのに対して、今作こそメジャデビュー初のオリジナルアルバム、ファン納得の仕上がりだと個人的に思う。インディーズ時より音源と音域が拡がっているのが、まさにメジャー仕様。おまけの過去作品ＰＶのＤＶＤも良いけど、自分は特典の”ＹＭＣＫの仰天レシピ本”の方が遊び心満点でスキ。インディーズ時代のＹＭＣＫを聞いた事をない人もオマケのＤＶＤで過去作品に触れるチャンスだと思いますので是非お薦めします。
