You can see from my purchases that I own a lot of travel books. As I have gotten older I have been changing my travel style and with that, I need different books to address my new travel style. DK Eyewitness Top 10 is great as it really lays out the MUST things to do in a location. Then it gives you various top 10 lists for different contingencies, e.g. Top 10 things to do if it rains, Top 10 things for a romantic afternoon, etc. I still couple my travels with the standard Lonely Planet and do so dependent upon the destination, but these have been great little infromational tools. If you are headed to Amsterdam and want to know the best coffeeshops or the smart shops, don't bother. These books are aimed at adult travel as I call it. They'll detail the nice restaurants, nice lodging, exhibits in museums, aspects of cathedrals, and areas of a park, but won't discuss the risky aspects that epitomize backpacking.
