I love to buy knitting kits that come made up for me - colors and all. After reading this book, I may be able to put my own colors and kits together. This book talks about everything I can think of that has to do with color and knitting. There are sections on what color does, understanding color, proportion and stitchwork, color and decoration, intarsia Fair Isle and creativity. There is also a resource section.
The sections of this book are VERY complete. For instance the section on understanding color contains the following: techniques; colors and values; hue families; warm and cool colors; undertones; brights; pastels; neutrals; tints, tones and shades; rivals: complementary colors; allies: analagous colors. This section also contains several patterns to demonstrate the techniques and information contained in the book.
The patterns are great. I especially like the Tints, Tones and Shades Neck Scarf, The Stitchwork Cushion and the Inspiration Cushion.
The photographs are clear and the colors look true. I have several books on color theory and knitting and am still glad that I purchased this one. It adds to what I have and clarifies some of the questions that still come to mind. I highly recommend this book.
