Fans of museums that value system design where architecture, engineering, and graphic, environmental, and behavior design are all equal players in the execution of an installation, like Ars Electronica in Linz, then this book will make your hair stand on end (in a good way).
While many exhibits in the book suffer from a cold aesthetic, the installation designs are remarkable. The interior design, signage, typography, lighting, and projected interfaces are beautifully crafted and photographed. The next volume could include story lines and behavior trails, architectural sketches, and lessons learned so that designers and engineers can better incorporate the ideas showcased in this lovely book into new installations.
Great inspiration and design. Now if schools and corporate offices could take similar paths...
