内容説明

If designed properly, a healthcare interior environment can foster healing, efficient task-performance and productivity, effective actions, and safe behavior. Written by an expert practitioner, Rosalyn Cama, FASID, this is the key book for interior designers and architects to learn the methodology for evidence-based design for healthcare facilities. Endorsed by the American Society of Interior Designers, the guide clearly presents a four-step methodology that will achieve the desired outcome and showcases the best examples of evidence-based healthcare interiors. With worksheets that guide you through such practical tasks as completing an internal analysis of a client's facility and collecting data, this book will inspire a transformation in healthcare design practice.

Essential New Book on Evidence-based Design for Healthcare 2009/12/18
By H. Domke - (Amazon.com)
形式:ハードカバー
Summary:
An inspirational and practical book that should be required reading for all who involved with healthcare design; especially students.

Pros:
- EBD explained in clear language by an expert
- Generous use of images to illustrate the concepts
- Useful checklists at the end of each chapter
- Perfect for Design Students

Cons:
- Little discussion on the use of art in healtcare. "Art" is not even listed in the index.

I found her explanation of the 4 steps of EBD to be particularly helpful. They book is centered around these four sequential steps:

1. Gather qualitative & quantitative intelligence
2. Map strategic, cultural and research goals
3. Hypothesize outcomes, innovate, and implement translational design
4. Measure and share outcomes

Cama presents a variety of "real world" projects and shows how those four steps have been applied by others.

Roz Cama is the President of the Board of the Center for Health Design. She is also President and Principal Interior Designer of CAMA, Inc. in New Haven, Connecticut. She is a frequent speaker about evidence-based healthcare design at meetings and conventions internationally.

This book outlines how teams can adopt the evidence-based design process into practice. At a minimum this design methodology allows teams to deliver baseline knowledge to project decision-making, empowering conversations about innovative design interventions that can improve outcomes. Once outcomes improve in the built environment experiences for patients, families, and staff become much more favorable creating environments that feel like "Place of Wellbeing".

Insightful. the book explains the concept pretty well. It was difficult to follow references to actual case histories and results.
