Praise for Everyone Leads

"If America is going to continue to thrive in the twenty-first century, we must strengthen our sense of community. In Everyone Leads, Schmitz lays out the challenges for those of us who have a passion to make a difference and, more important, the strategies to spark lasting change from the grassroots up. His unique perspective and experience make this a must-read for community activists."Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO, Harlem Children's Zone

"This moment in history demands that we stop waiting for othersespecially others living in Washington, D.C.to solve the problems and right the wrongs of our times. Now, more than ever, we must mine the most underutilized resource available to us: We the People. Everyone Leads shows us how."Arianna Huffington, president and executive editor, Huffington Post Media Group

"Social change has always come from the leadership of the many, not the few. Everyone Leads shows us how we can all step up and contribute to social change."Tavis Smiley, author, broadcaster, philanthropist

"Every nonprofit can learn from Public Allies' example that the leadership we need to solve problems exists within our communities. Everyone Leads is a guide to inclusion, collaboration, and community building that will inspire readers to see leadership and opportunity in places we don't usually look."Sterling Speirn, CEO, W.K. Kellogg Foundation

"Schmitz has produced the road map we need for this 'all hands on deck' moment when we need a new spirit of collaborative leadership and action to face the problems of our day. Reading this book, we are not surprised that Michelle Obama learned from Public Allies how to build leaders and build communities."Harris Wofford, former United States Senator, and CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service under President Bill Clinton

Highly recommend -- Contains a critical message to help our country grow stronger again 2012/5/10
By RV - (Amazon.com)
形式:ハードカバー
Deceptively simple, but very timely and powerful in the scope of its message: that everyone has a role to play in building a real movement to make our communities and country stronger and more vibrant. In this country -- and others, mind you -- we've created a mythology around the singular superman leader who singlehandedly makes history. Martin Luther King, Jr., George Washington, Abraham Lincoln are just some examples. But if you dig a little deeper, as "Everyone Leads" does, we find that movements are built of many, many people. Today, we find ourselves in a situation in which millions of young people of all stripes and incomes are being left behind, overlooked and simply not taken seriously because they don't fit the cookie-cutter mold of what people believe leaders should resemble. This is a grave mistake. "Everyone Leads" shows us not only how we can cultivate new leaders by looking in places others don't, but more importantly, that we MUST do so if we are to tap into the unbelievable talent that lies latent in our country. If we fail to do so, then we hurt ourselves. If we fail to do so, then we fail ourselves. I highly recommend this book to teachers, professors, leaders in the nonprofit industry and businesses interested in tapping into the power of diversity.

Great book on the story of leadership development in the context of community assets 2011/11/4
By Stephen Bauer - (Amazon.com)
形式:ハードカバー|Amazonが確認した購入
Everyone Leads is the story of Public Allies and the organization's unique perspective on leadership development. The main premise is that, as the title conveys, everyone leads. Everyone has qualities, attributes and assets that can help define them as leaders. If you are interested in community development, national service, leadership development, and/or the stories of everyday people who were able to find the leadership voice inside of them to do amazing things, this book is for you.
Everyone Leads should be required reading 2011/11/8
By Jason Patnosh - (Amazon.com)
形式:ハードカバー
"Everyone Leads" was a wonderful experience, not just a wonderful read. Hearing Schmitz talk about the Public Allies leadership model, interweave stories from Allies, and bring in his own personal experiences over the past 25 years made this book truly enjoyable. In my own thinking on how I was leading I realized strengthes and challenges. I also realized a lot of potential. Full disclosure, I have known Paul for a number of years and we have worked together in national service, but my praise for this book lies more in what I did not know about Paul and learning about the founding of Public Allies. I have recommended this book for all of my staff and I think it is a great read for anyone who has dealt with questions of how and why they lead.
