There is no need for another orthopedic reference on my bookshelf.
Essentials (3rd ed.) is highly visual, easy to search, and quick to browse. Arranged by anatomic regions, the book reviews pertinent anatomy, then discusses the examination. Each section is suborganized by disease state, and clearly illustrates the maneuvers used to diagnose each problem. Finally, treatments and procedures are described with illustrations, photographs. Each includes relevent ICD and CPT codes. There are complete libraries of patient handouts (which are also included on the accompanying DVD in adobe acrobat format).
As a family physician, I see a tremendous amount of orthopedic issues in my office, and Essentials has been a great resource for both me and my patients.
