British idioms!

Just be aware that the idiomatic language taught in this book is not for speakers of American English (unless they actually want to learn the British idioms).
I read only the first pages offered by an Amazon Look Inside, but immediately I was faced with these: "car park" (parking lot to us Yanks) and "lick of paint" (huh?). This may be a good book if the student has a native speaker of "Mercan" :) available to distinguish the differences in usage.

Why is English such a difficult language to master? While many English teachers will claim the frequent disconnect between sound and spelling is the problem, English Idioms in Use (Advanced) illuminates how the widespread use of colorful phrases and common sayings might pose greater hurdles for English language learners. This systematic, clear, and relatively concise textbook can be used as a course textbook in the rare idioms course or as an outstanding source for supplement lessons in advanced classes. International students and longtime immigrants will probably find it increases their understanding of many newspaper articles and casual conversations with native speakers. I would also suggest that English Idioms in Use Advanced with Answers deserves a place in the professional library of English teachers, EFL tutors, and English language trainers.
