著者について
Robert Sabuda is a renowned pop-up picture book creator. Beginning his career by illustrating colouring books (for such characters as Rambo!), he has since gone on to make amazingly inventive pop-ups, including the marvel that is "Alice in Wonderland". Robert lives in New York. Matthew Reinhart is an illustrator and pop-up picture book maker. He lives in New York City with his partner, Robert Sabuda, and together they made "Encyclopedia Prehistorica: Dinosaurs".

サブダのPOP-UP BOOKはよくある子供用の飛び出す絵本ではありません。ほとんど工芸品の域です。
嘘だと思うのでしたら、一度手にとって開いてください。
開いた瞬間に目の前にダイナミックな空間が広がります。感動しますよ。
日本の物にも手の込んだものはありますが、スケール感が違います。
子供に渡すのはもったいないくらいです。
絵本ですから、当然紙ですので、壊れやすいです。でも、そのはかなさとダイナミックな空間がコントラストをなして独特の世界観を生み出しています。
なんだったら保存用にもう一冊買っておきましょう。

We like dinosaurs and the pop-up art in this book is fantastic. There is also lots of information and it is really fun to read to your children. Most important my children love this book and can listen to all of the facts that are so well written. The only drawback is that it is kind of delicate and the pop-ups can be broken with rough usage. But I think this book is a must to have for the family.

知人に大プッシュされたので、本屋で見本を試してみました。
実際に開くと、うん確かに凄い・・・でも、すぐ終わっちゃうなあ。
なんて思いながら、二度目は見開き毎の隅についているミニサイズの見返しも開きました。ストッパーで止めてあるのでそーっと。
そしたら思わず「うわ、凄！」。
実はここにもそこにもいっぱい立体恐竜たちが、隠れていたのでした！
これは買い！
