Pucciの歴史 2005/3/5
1960年代から1990年代までのPucciの衣装が見られます。少し小さめの本もとても可愛いです。Marilyn Monroe、Isabella Rossellini、60'sを代表するモデルVerushkaなどがPucciの鮮やかな衣装を着こなしています。Pucciのお洋服はどこか一カ所取り入れるだけで全体がとても明るくなり洗練された可愛い雰囲気がでます。

I had hoped for a book with more detailed collections of the various prints created by Pucci. This one does not contain the images of what the Pucci prints are about. Very disappointed.

Looking for an overview of the brilliant fashions of Emilio Pucci, I hoped this would be the answer. It's not. Just too brief and the vintage illustrations are poorly reproduced. Pucci is best remembered for its heyday -- full disclosure: my wife word purple Pucci at our wedding in 1969 -- and it is wonderful to see vintage editorial photos, but they need to be reproduced well, hopefully from original negatives.

The larger issue is the size of the book, both its dimensions and its length. Just big enough to hint at the radical nature of these pieces at the time and their appeal but far too small to illustrate the subject well or in depth. I'll bet the estates of Slim Aarons, or some fashion photographer of similar vintage, has plenty of material to do this subject justice, if Pucci itself does not.

August 2010 update: THE book on Pucci has just become available from Taschen. Please see my review. The new book is absolutely fabulous and what all of those of us who love the Pucci style have been waiting for. The huge (14-1/2 inches square, 400 pages, all in full color) new volume on Pucci is expensive, but well worth it.

My mother was a queen fashionista. A Blonde Bombshell who wore nothing but the best clothing - (thus, she wooed my father quite easily, and survived on a diet of coca-cola and cigarettes so she could afford her shopping habit;) Fortunately, my mother has passed on her sense of fashion to her only daughter, and Emilio Pucci was one of her favorite designers. Thus, I started learning the ways of the fashion world at a young age, even though I was a bit of a tomboy, and at 11, received my first pair of Pucci undies. I've been a fanatic ever since. Now that I'm in my late 20's, my mother is passing on her Pucci collection to me. Buying current collections is essential, but Vintage Pucci is Platinum. This book is cute, sexy, and presents a lot of vintage Pucci coture pieces. For it's price, no reason not to buy it if you love Pucci as much as I do! - That's 1 of my scarves my mother passed on to me (circa 1972) in the little photo.
