放射線医学者でありながら基礎解剖学に造詣が深く、画像診断を主体にしながら、それを通じて解剖学を考え続けて来た著者の集大成とも言える本である。適宜わかりやすい解剖図や、また実際の固定遺体の切片を示しながら、各種画像検査の詳細な読影とその意義を進め、読み進むうちに解剖学と画像診断の両方が習得できる良書である。本書は第5版であるが、数年置きに改定されるに従い、その厚みは目を見張る程に増え、新しい画像と知見を盛り込み続ける著者の弛まぬ努力には、頭が下がる思いである。放射線科医だけでなく、腹部外科医、解剖学者にとっても、座右の銘となりうる1册である。
