A beautifully written story about a girl who was raised in a village with no memory of her past. Plagued by dreams and visions, Saya tries to fit in with the other villagers despite her oddness.
Yet nothing is as it seems. Having been raised to believe in the perfection and majesty of the Prince and Princess of light, Saya never thought to question the common knowledge that things of darkness were evil and perverse. One day Saya finds herself confronted by a group of strangers who put all that she has ever believed into question.
Is she the reincarnation of the water maiden? What is the dragon sword, and who is to wield it? And who is the strange shape-shifter that no one seems to notice except her?
(My favourite character is Torihiko, hands down. If you want to find out why, then read the book.) :)
* One of the lovely things about this story is that nothing quite happens the way you expect it to. *
