デスメタルを聴いてみようと思ったら、まず本作品を聴いてみることをお薦めする。このアルバムにはデスメタルの持つ魅力のすべてがつまっている。モービッドエンジェルは、デスメタル創成期からずっとデスメタル界の頂点にたつキングオブキングスなのだ! このアルバムはまさしくデスメタルの教科書のようなアルバムで、後進にもいまだに大きな影響を与え続けている。要はデスメタルの基本中の基本ということだね。さぁ、俺のつまんねぇレビューなんぞ読む暇があるならさっさとこの素晴らしいアルバムを聴けよ!

デスメタル界の頂点に君臨するMORBID ANGELの4th。
他のバンドとはケタ違いのドロドロした荘厳さに圧倒されます。

ピートの超絶ドラミング、デイヴィットの低音咆哮など帝王の貫禄を見せつけられます！ソロも全曲イカれたソロを弾いていてカッコイイです！

個性的なサウンドのため初心者にはオススメ出来ません。

しかし、デスメタルを語る上では避けることは出来ない名盤ですのでいつか必ず聴いて下さい。

メンバーはこの作品に不満が残っているらしいのいですが、このアルバムは彼らの最高傑作ではないでしょうか。１stはスラッシュな内容に仕上がっていましたが、今作はリフ、ソロに重きを置き、崇高であるとともに１stよりも壮厳的で壮大な内容になっています。デイヴィットのデス声も１stとは異なり威圧的でよりカッコ良くなっています。ピートのドラムは全体的にミドルテンポで展開されていますが、たまに聴かれるブラストは相変わらすの速さです。そしてこのアルバムの一番の聴き所は何といってもトレイのギターではないでしょうか。リフは重く邪悪な雰囲気をかもち出し、ソロは１stの様な荒削りで勢い任せではなくきっちり弾き込んでおり、タッピング（ライトハンド）も上手く導入されているためとても良い作品になっています。
