After reading the other review on this book, I had to pop in and give my 2 cents.
Isn't it interesting how we get wrapped up in "seeking" the answers to maximizing our full potential and living with peace and harmony, but instead get sucked into judging and criticizing others rather than taking absolute personal responsibility for our actions?
Because this book does focus on "the basics" is the exact reason WHY it changed my life! I'd been skipping the basics because I'd never had anyone break them down and inspire me to actually begin implementing them.
This book came into my life at a very pivotal moment. I came upon it EXACTLY when I needed it.
I had spent the last 6 years as a self employed physical therapist, earning a decent income and was able to help a lot of people, but I recognized that I wanted to have a bigger impact in the world.
I had read and studied book after book on self discovery and leadership, but hadn't been able to really crack the code, or uncover what my next step was going to be until I read Discover Your Destiny by Robin Sharma.
Sharma has a unique style of writing that uses stories to illustrate his wisdom and insight, which makes for an enjoyable reading experience, but what sets him apart in my mind, was his ability to inspire me to stop living mediocre and to finally take action and begin implementing the basics AND finally sustain them, long enough for me to begin seeing results and attract experiences that have led me on a completely different career path where I've 10x'd my impact and my income.
This book played the role of the launching pad that I'd been looking for and needed, to make the shift and sustain it.
It is also very easy to see Robins passion and desire to truly help people live a world class life. I get the feeling that he really lives what he's teaching, as his passion and wisdom is dripping from the pages.
Once you get a taste of his fun and engaging writing style, and allow him to coach and guide you through the wisdom and implementation of these principles, go and tackle his latest book called "The Greatness Guide".
I can relate to those who are quick to criticize. I've been there before myself. But thanks to my friend Gordon for turning me onto Sharma's material, I'm more fulfilled, more at peace and more inspired than I've ever been in my life. Oh, and the impact (and ROI) as a result of the career change this book initiated is great too!
