著者について
Michèle Heuzé is a jewelry historian and gemologist. In 2005, she was curator for the exhibition on avant-garde French jewelry and she made a documentary about French jewelry in 2008. She has contributed to numerous magazines, exhibitions catalogues, and books, including L'Estampille - L'Objet d'Art.

This is a beautiful book documenting a large selection of beautiful Dior Jewelery.
The book is large and filled with full color photos as well as reproducing some artistic sketches.
The book is divided into chapters, each dealing with one of the motifs inspiring the illustrated pieces e.g.Couture, Roses, Belladone Island...etc. Each chapter is briefly introduced to explain the significance of each theme. At the end there is a photo index documenting the materials used to create each piece.
The only issues that I have with this book, is that some of the pieces are shown against a black background so the details are not that clear compared to the ones set against white backgrounds. I would have also liked to know the date of each piece. With that being said,the book is an attractive addition to any jewelery and fashion collections as it is the first comprehensive record on this subject.

A well thought book. First, the jewelry is out of this world, not for the faint hearts. The photos are just perfect, not only of the object but in some you can see the hallmarks (so important when studying jewelry). Also, in some photos different angles of the same jewel were included (very thoughful). And photos of the jewelry in models make it come alive. The text is short and to the point. A fascinating book for jewelry lovers. The women who use these baubles have to create the occasion to wear them!!

Many years ago, in Paris was the very first time I ever saw the actual jewelry designed for Dior. And when you see the worlmanship, stones, the mix of what is whimsical and serious with elegance, you know this is not an easy thing to do. We often miss the point of what looks easy and what is in reality, harder to do. This book remeinds me of what I heard many years ago " Between Kitsch and Elegance, it is a fine line that devides both" and here you will see what it actually means.
