ビデオや音楽のキャプチャーから、本格的な編集、DVD制作までの全プロセスをカバーする統合ツール。DVカメラ、DVデッキをはじめ、DVコンバーターに対応したキャプチャー機能により、ビデオをPCへ取り込めるほか、キャプチャーボードを使用して、VHSやHi8などアナログテープに記録されている素材もキャプチャーすることが可能。また、キャプチャーとは別に、DV入力をダイレクトにMPEG変換も行える。映像効果には、多重設定可能なビデオフィルターを25種類、トランジションを58種類用意したほか、最大4トラックのビデオの各レイヤーをリアルタイムに合成表示でき、ビデオフィルターやエフェクトなどの効果をリアルタイムで確認することが可能。さらに、DVD-R/RW、DVD+R/+RWに対応しており、作成したプロジェクトをそのままDVDに書き込めたり、DVDメニューの作成もサポートしている。

キャプチャからＤＶＤオーサリングまで、ビデオ編集に関する一通りの処理に対応できる統合型のビデオ編集ソフトとしては価格も安く、安いわりには、他の統合型ビデオ編集と違い、ソフト単体でシームレスな作業が行えるなど決して廉価版といったイメージはありません。「DVデータのMPEG2ダイレクトキャプチャ」はＤＶをMPEG2フォーマットのビデオデータとしてキャプチャできるのでＤＶで嵩張る映像ファイルをコンパクトに編集して保存したい場合に重宝です。値段も割安なので初心者から中級者あたりに向いていると思います。
