内容説明

"Developing Agility and Quickness" focuses on improving athletes' fleetness of foot, speed of change of direction and reaction time. Applicable across almost every sport, the book explains the purposes behind the training, presents tests to gauge ability and monitor progress. "Developing Agility and Quickness" contains more than 100 drills to improve each area as well as providing programmes that develop sport-specific quickness and agility. For all athletes, the ability to quickly change direction is often the difference between success and failure. Virtually all sports require rapid whole-body movements in which an athlete is required to instantly accelerate, decelerate, or change direction in response to game situations. The reality is that in most sports the ability to quickly change direction is more important than having great straight-line sprinting speed. For this reason, many coaches and athletes are interested in finding effective ways to improve agility and quickness. The purpose of this book is to assist the sports coach, athlete, and strength and conditioning professional in accomplishing that goal.

This book is excellent for agility and quickness. It doesn't only give you drills but explains the foundation of which agility and quickness are built from a motot development outlook. It gives you a brief summary of factors such as reaction time, anticipation, perception, arousal and information processing though not termed as such.It also gives you types of instructional approaches and methods you can use to test and perform the drills.Unlike other drill books that stick solemnly to drill this book expands on the scietific aspect of performance.Great for people who understand the science behind sport training.

Add this resource to your training library 2011/12/9
By P. McCall - (Amazon.com)
形式:ペーパーバック
If you are a fitness professional or strength coach and work with individuals who want to improve their athletic performance this book is an excellent resource for the principles and techniques related to training agility and quickness. If you are an athlete or coach who is looking for new drills or ideas for improving your game or practice, this book has an number of different exercises with illustrations and pictures to show how to set up and run the drills. The best thing about the way that Jay laid it out and wrote it is that you don't need a technical background in exercise science to be able to apply the ideas to your next training session or practice. Well done.

Coaches Need This Book 2012/1/5
By Mike - (Amazon.com)
形式:ペーパーバック
A must-have book for youth, high school and college coaches. Excellent resource for athletic trainers and physical education professionals. Athletes can use this book on their own, though it would be helpful to have someone make sure they are doing the drills correctly. An authoritative source by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, with chapters written by experts in their field. Includes factors that determine agility and quickness, testing and monitoring progress, drills to perform for sports in general and several specific sports.
