Having read The Magus Trilogy by Alex Sumner, I was keen to read more of his work. He is a talented writer who writes modern day fantasy stories with a dark twist. His stories blend magic, occultism and the dark arts, with humour, to make a winning formula.
I enjoyed reading The Demon Detective. It is a quick read that kept me interested. Sumner's characters are vividly drawn. This particular story would make a great TV drama. I liked the humour in the story. The ending is thought provoking. A recommended read.

I have to confess that this was taken on as a gift read from a fellow author many months ago.....I didn't even think about it much until today actually. I decided to read it just so I could let the author know that I took the time to read their hard earned work, and out of mutual respect being an author myself, sonrisa....I can now say "I Am Very Happy That I Totally Took The Time"!!!! From the very first page, and starting with the character's "Guy Shepardson" and "Eric MacGinnis", I was drawn into a mythical black magic and spiritual journey through intrigue, supernatural existence and a haunting like mysteries of the sleuth "Demon Detective". I have to say that this brilliantly written short read is Absolutely A Must Read!!! I'm giving it a 5 Star review!!!!

I liked the style of this straight away. It's a short story yet a good one. I sensed irony and a sense of humour with lines like, 'Don't hex the messenger'. A clever and fun read.
