Stays in my camera bag all the time.

This is the perfect reference to keep with you at all times. If you're new to the T2i, it has everything a newbie needs to learn how to use every feature, and how to make each setting and custom function. Most important, it tells you why you should select a particular option. The booklet that comes with the camera tells you nothing more than what they do, not how they can affect your pictures. I really liked that this book was spiral bound, so you can open it up to any page and lay it flat, which is helpful if you refer to the settings tables that recommend particular settings for kinds of photography, such as indoor sports, outdoor sports, landscapes, portraits, concerts, general purpose, and more.
There are seven chapters in this little book:
Chapter 1: This is a setup guide. If you loan your camera to someone, they can read this chapter and know how to operate the basic camera controls in a few minutes.
Chapter 2: This is a useful roadmap, with separate pages showing each control and button on the camera, with a complete explanation of how to use it. No hopping around like in the Canon manual!
Chapter 3: All the Shooting and Playback menu options are carefully explained here.
Chapter 4: Setup and My Menu options are explained here.
Chapter 5: Very helpful chapter explaining how to use the built in flash and optional flash units.
Chapter 6: Finally somebody wrote a chapter on how to use Live View and shoot movies, with specific movie making tips and techniques.
Chapter 7: This is the chapter with tables that provide the author's recommended settings. I haven't seen anything like this in any other book. Why not?
This Compact Field Guide is a field guide in the true sense of the word and a must have accessory for every T2i owner's camera bag.

Perfect companion.

This book makes the perfect companion for any 550D owner who wants a concise reference guide in his camera bag at all times, ready for reviewing the basics of photography with this excellent companion. I also have the author's complete book for the 550D/T2i and have found it very valuable for teaching me the essentials of digital photography with this camera. It is the most complete and accurate book, and I have checked them all.
This Compact Field Guide, on the other hand, is like a Readers Digest Condensed version of Busch's main book. He extracts all the information you must have about every control and dial and button on the camera, so you can quickly check to see how to perform a task. There are two chapters that list each menu choice with a full explanation of what that choice does, and why you should use or not use each of the options for that choice. I found it very helpful to be able to review the section on white balance shift and bracketing, while I was shooting photos in a gymnasium. There is also an entire chapter on using Flash, and another on shooting movies, which I did not do much until I had this book with me as reference when the movie opportunity presented itself.
I have used laminated tip cards in the past, but this book is much more complete. It is also easier to carry around than even the small size guide books for the 550D/T2i. If you want to learn about photography with this camera, you should get Busch's complete book, as well as the Compact Field Guide as a reference.

DON'T BUY THIS BOOK IF . . .

Don't buy this book if you are satisfied with the Instruction Manual and Pocket Guide that came with your camera. Also, don't buy this book if what you really need is a book for beginning photographers. This field guide is not about learning photography.
What this book is, is a User's Guide that should have been included in the same box as the Camera. This is not to say that either of Canon's guides are worthless. I just believe that if people get this field guide they won't have much use for what Canon has provided.
Other reviewers have already covered the features of this great field guide. I can't think of anything to add. Just buy it. You will be glad you did.
