Dante's Inferno is one of a recent group of games aimed solely at an adult audience and it is specifically aimed at anyone who enjoyed the God Of War series. The game is of course based on the poem/story of the same name and is pretty faithful to the source material. In short, you play Dante, a Knight on a mission to save his beloved from eternal hell and you must battle various monsters and famous demons in order to do this. The graphics and sound are excellent and we can clearly see that a great deal of effort has gone into the designs of the levels of Hell and the enemies within. The musical score is tight and well recorded providing a very decent and exciting backdrop to the gameplay. Clearly A.L.O.T of effort has been put into interesting ways to (literally) sex up the original book in order for it to be as exciting as possible. This game is NOT for kids with violence aplenty and graphic nudity of both sexes clearly on display.
Be all this as it may graphics and sound do not make a good game... and this is no exception. The game itself is quite fun but it is just too obvious where they have got their inspiration from. From the violent deaths to the camera moves to action itself... it IS God of War. Just in a different setting. Even if the action was initially fun I did find that towards the end it got tedious with too much repeating and reusing of ideas from the game itself and from the GOW series. I also thought that there was a HUGE disparity between the difficulty in levels but this is maybe my failing as a casual gamer.
The game is decent enough but for anyone who wants to play this type of game, I recommend this only if you have finished all the GOW games and are desperate for more of the same. Anyone looking for anything fresh and new... you will be disappointed. Go for God of War 1 2 and now 3.
