マイケルの美しく，繊細で純粋な魂に触れることのできる素晴らしい本です。彼が真心を込めて紡ぎだした詩や物語，思いが書かれている珠玉の作品集です。マイケルの語る言葉のひとつひとつが読む者の魂に優しく響いてきます。その優雅な文体は，マイケルの崇高な人柄を表していると言えるでしょう。彼の音楽やダンスの創作時における心境，母なる地球に対する思い，世界の子供たち，そして生きる上で彼が大切にしていることなどが書かれており，作品全体にマイケルの愛が溢れています。作品と作品の間に挿入されている写真もどれもクールでゴージャスです。私のMJコレクションの中でベストの一冊です。こんなに素敵な本を読者に届けてくれたマイケルに感謝しています。

数ある愛蔵本の中でも出色、一番大事にしている本です。あまりにも読みすぎて古びてしまい、新たに購入しました。
数年前に初版本を手にして読み始めた時、あふれる感情の高まりを抑えることができず、叫びたくなったことを憶えています。メディアで報道される彼のイメージとは全く違う、彼の詩人としての、深い内省に支えられた詩やストーリーの数々は、彼の魂の表白と思いました。是非声に出して読んでみてください。その美しい響き、彼の高い創造性に驚かれることでしょう。
単なるポップスターだったのではなく、作曲家、作詞家、編曲家、詩人、エンタテイナーというだけでなく、繊細な美しい魂をもった一人の人間だった。優しく語りかける、あるいは叫ぶ、あるいはつぶやく、勇気を与えてくれる。彼の一語一語が心にしみます。

初版の『Dancing the Dream』は1992年に出ていて、表紙が「『ブラック・オア・ホワイト』のブラックパンサー・パートのマイケル」のものです。私は92年当時はまだ子どもで、とても欲しかった本でしたが、日本語版は定価が高く、自力で購入出来ませんでした。お小遣いが溜まった頃には、すでに絶版となっていて、悔しくて図書館で借りて暗記するくらい愛読したものです。こんな機会でというのは本当に悲しくてなりませんが、再販をずっと期待していたので、やっと購入できて嬉しいです。

表紙写真が赤ジャケのものに変更された理由はよくわかりませんが、中身はおそらく大きな変更はないと思います。カバー裏表紙やカバー折り返しの部分に、旅立ってしまったマイケルへの追悼メッセージ（マドンナやジャスティンなど）などが加えられているので、そういう点で92年の初版本と少し違います。

マイケル著の1冊目の本は『Moonwalk』で、それは自叙伝でしたが、この『Dancing〜』は、マイケルが書いた詩と、デンジャラスの時期を中心とした写真、そして美しい絵画・イラスト（これはマイケルが描いたものではなくて、マイケルがコレクションしたものや、この本のために描かれたもの）で構成されています。だから、この本は、他のレコードやフィルムの類のように、彼自身の「作品」として数えられると思います。

彼のクリエイションの秘密が詰まっています。音楽やダンスへの献身、神さま、自然、宇宙、子どもたち、魔法・・・マイケルがひたむきに追い求めたたくさんの「素晴らしいもの」、それらをみんなで一緒に体験しよう、そういうマイケルのオープンな気持ちが伝わってきます。

本の世界とはいえ、自分も「ネバーランドに招待された超ラッキーなファンの一人」になったような幸せな錯覚に陥ることが出来ます。
ありがとう、マイケル！マイケルのファンで嬉しいです！
