Reputed to have initiated the young British art movement, Hirst is considered the pre-eminent artist of his generation. This project brings together for the first time all his works in the collection of Charles Saatchi, his most prolific and proactive patron.
Book Description
Damien Hirst is one of the most important artists of his generation. His first book, I Want to Spend the Rest of My Life Everywhere, with Everyone, One to One, Always, Forever, Now, published by Booth-Clibborn Editions and designed by Jonathan Barnbrook, was a landmark publication and redefined the fine art monograph for the 21st century. This book brings together for the first time all the works by Hirst in Charles Saatchi's collection. It was Saatchi who first exhibited Hirst's now famously controversial shark in formaldehyde. This book explores Hirst's life, his ideas and his obsessions and is illustrated with portraits of the artist. It includes work ranging from his earliest medicine cabinets to Hymn, the 20-foot anatomical figure that was the centerpiece of Ant Noises at the Saatchi Gallery and Hirst's recent show at Gagosian Gallery in New York. Damien Hirst was born in Bristol in 1965. He completed his foundation course at Leeds School of Art and in 1986 graduated from Goldsmiths. While still a student he conceived and promoted Frieze, an exhibition in a Docklands warehouse. This was widely held to be the start of the Young British Artists movement. Since then Hirst has produced a body of work that is extremely provocative and is collected worldwide. He has organized a succession of exhibitions which have helped to define a generation. Designed by Jonathan Barnbrook.
