The recipes in "Year-round Cupcakes" range from a fast one-bowl cake with creamed butter icing to chocolate ganache covered cupcakes with gold-leafed chocolate shards on top. Each cupcake can be kept simple or embellished to personal taste with flavoured syrups, fillings or fancy decorations. The standard favourites are here along with more unique flavours. Neumeier shows the average home cook how easy it is to bake and decorate cupcakes. Simple piping techniques are clearly explained and an array of other imaginative decorating ideas are provided. A chapter called "Cupcake Science" gets the baker started with the basics behind making great cupcakes (e.g. tips such as using an ice cream scoop to fill tins to the perfect level, how to put a filling inside a cupcake, why buttermilk is the best liquid to bind the dry ingredients, what kind of knife to use for frosting). A year's worth of ideas are presented from major holidays (Reindeer Snacks, Snowballs, Red Velvet Valentines, Spider Webs, Scuttling Spiders, Bunny Cakes) to ideas for children's birthdays (Spelling Bee Alphabet Cakes), baby parties (Pastel Petit Fours), summer soirees or backyard barbecues (Sandcastles and Beach Umbrella Cakes), and cake sales (Fudgie Brownie Cupcakes). Just like cupcakes themselves, this small, playfully designed book is irresistible.

Sara Neumeier is a freelance recipe developer, food stylist and writer with a client list that includes Gourmet, Food and Wine, Real Simple, In Style, Country Living, along with Martha Stewart Living. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and the Professional Cooking Program at Peter Kump's Cooking School.

英語のレシピですが、内容は簡潔なので英語が苦手な人でも辞書をひきながら楽しめると思います。
材料さえわかれば普段お菓子を作っている人はなんとなく想像のつく内容だと思います。
卓上カレンダーの様に立てて使うことができるので、見やすいことはもちろん、美しい写真を飾っておくのにも便利。
カップケーキのデコレーションも色使いがステキで参考になります。
とにかくページいっぱいの写真がキレイです。
色使いや雰囲気はマーサ・ステュワートっぽいので彼女のファンにもオススメです。

How sweet it is!

I love the gingham on the cover and the sturdy easel, which is why I bought it in the first place, but what you need to know is that the vanilla cupcakes in here are THE BEST EVER (completely trump New York's Magnolia Bakery)! That recipe alone is worth buying the book for. I've only made two of the icings so far (chocolate and vanilla buttercreams), but I can't wait to combine some of the many different flavors and try some of the decorating ideas.

"Cupcakes Year-Round" was a gift to myself, as I love sweets! Who doesn't like cupcakes?!
Sara Neumeier is a food writer, food stylist and recipe developer. She works with the Martha Stewart kingdom, and it is evident when you see the gorgeous color photographs of her food styling.
The recipes are easy-to-follow. There are cupcake recipe and decorating ideas for each season. Plus, Neumeier helps explains the reason behind baking techniques, such as sifting flour. I feel these tips are magnificent at helping educate the new baker to understand what is going on in the kitchen! Also, the book can be set up as an easel for easier use while cooking! That was a cute idea.
I, recently, made her Easter cupcakes for my son and his friends. They loved them.
This cookbook is fun, easy and tasty. Her recipes are great for adults and children.

Clever, fun and easy to use!

This book caught my eye and that of my daughter who loves to bake. When we found out that the book becomes a self-standing cookbook, all the better! There is so much imagination that goes into the decorating of these cupcakes! Who knew that a single cupcake could be a spider, an ice cream cone, or a sand castle? The photography is simple, crisp and inviting. I recommend this cupcake book for children and adults of all ages.
