手書きの味わいを表現できるデジタルペイントソフト。本製品は、デジタルペイントツール「Painter 4」をベースに、デジタルアートの入門者向けに学習機能が充実。ソフトが起動するとまず現れる「Welcomeスクリーン」では、ブラシの設定などの準備ができるほか、ソフトの使い方の学習や、著名なアーティストの作品を鑑賞しながら作品のイメージを高めることができる。また、「Lynda.com」制作による10本の「トレーニングビデオ」や、作業に応じて使用可能オプションに関する情報を説明する「クイックガイドパレット」を搭載。ユーザー登録すればさらに10本のビデオを追加してダウンロードすることもできる。また、本製品のために開発された「フォトペイント機能」を使えば、白紙の状態から絵を描くのではなく、写真を元にしてデジタル的に模写することから始めることができる(本機能の操作方法について簡単に説明した「クイックチュートリアル」を用意)。また、新しいスケッチ効果で、写真からモノクロの鉛筆画を自動的に作成することも可能。さらに、リアルな油絵を実現する「アーティストオイル」から、絵の具の乾きまでをもシミュレートする「デジタル水彩」まで、18カテゴリー・76種類のブラシを装備(前バージョンの2倍以上)するほか、初心者に優しい操作性を実現するために、スタンプツールや消しゴムツールを新規搭載。そのほか、キャンバスの回転・反転機能、作業をスムーズにさせるズーム機能を搭載するほか、Adobe Photoshop CSおよびAdobe Photoshop Elementsとのシームレスなファイル交換を実現。また、Corel Photo Album 6やApple iPhotoとの連携が可能になったほか、Corel Paint Shop Pro(バージョン9、X)のファイル形式、Wacomタブレット(Intos 3、Cintiq 21UX、マーカーペンを含む)をサポート。また、前バージョンに比べて処理速度が2~10倍に向上した。学生、教員、教育機関を対象としたアカデミック版。
